2024. 11. 15. (금)과 11. 18. (월)

 

지난 금요일. 피곤해서 대리콜만 잡고 집에 가려 했는데, 콜이 많지 않았다. 단가도 낮고, 손님도 없고. 그래서 놀면 뭐하냐는 심정으로 배달앱을 켰다. 지금 확인해 보니 쿠팡으로 통닭, 곱창, 햄버거를 날랐다. 총 3건. 배민으로는 역전할머니맥주집에서 맥주와 맥주 안주, 그리고 또 술집 음식을 배달했는데 그 중 한건은 신분증을 확인해야 했다. 그래서 조금 더 좋은 단가 삼천원. 지난 금요일은 이렇게 돈벌이에 재미가 없었다. 그리고 겨우 잡은 콜도 평소보다 약 만원 낮은 단가콜이지만 그래도 집에 걸어갈 수 있는 거리여서 감사한 마음으로 잡고 왔다. 지엠의 쉐보래? 아반떼급인지, 소나타급인지 가늠은 안되는데 상대적으로 튼튼해 보였고, 적산계를 보니 이십만키로를 넘게 달렸는데도 깨끗하고 잡소리가 안났다. 주인을 잘 만난건지, 나름 미제차라 내구성이 좋은 건지 궁금한 것이 있었지만 얌전히 차만 몰았다. 손은 외진 곳이라 스스로 여겼는지 주차장 입구에서 나를 귀가조치해 주셨다.

그리고 2024. 11. 18. 모처럼 추위가 왔다는 오늘 그래서인지 쿠팡 미션도 많았고 콜도 많아 덕분에 무려 미션 보너스로만 32천원을 챙길 수 있었다. 점심때까지 일했다면 37천원에 15건 정도 해서 50천원 넘게 벌 수 있었을 것 같다. 마지막 11번째 콜을 앞두고는 급격한 피로와 추위가 느껴졌다. 손가락이 얼얼했다. 지난주는 자전거를 타도 땀이 안나는 좋은 날씨였고, 오늘은 장갑을 챙겨야 하는 날씨가 된 것. 그리고 배터리가 무려 40여%를 남겨두고 방전되어 새 스마트폰을 속히 마련해야 겠다는 생각을 했다. 버는 만큼 나가는 것 같아 마냥 어린 마음같은 설레임은 없다.. 콜이 계속 울린다. 집으로 가야겠다.

Last Friday, I was tired and just wanted to catch a designated driver call and go home, but there weren't many calls. The rates were low, and there were no customers. So, with a "what do I have to lose?" attitude, I turned on the delivery app. Checking now, I see I delivered chicken, gopchang, and hamburgers through Coupang Eats. A total of 3 deliveries. Through Baemin, I delivered beer and snacks from a "Grandma Beer" pub, and then some more food from another pub. For one of them, I had to check the customer's ID, so I got a slightly better rate of 3,000 won. Last Friday was like this - no fun in making money.

And even the designated driver call I finally got was about 10,000 won lower than usual, but I was grateful to take it because it was within walking distance of my home. It was a Chevrolet, I think? I couldn't tell if it was the same class as an Avante or a Sonata, but it seemed relatively sturdy.  The odometer showed it had over 200,000 kilometers on it, but it was clean and there were no strange noises. I wondered if it had a good owner or if it was just a durable American car, but I quietly drove. The customer must have considered their place remote because they had me dropped off at the entrance to the parking lot.

And today, November 18th, 2024, the cold weather finally arrived. Perhaps because of that, there were many Coupang Eats missions and designated driver calls. Thanks to that, I was able to earn a whopping 32,000 won in mission bonuses alone. If I had worked until lunchtime, I think I could have earned over 50,000 won with about 15 missions, reaching 37,000 won in bonuses. 

Before my last, 11th call, I felt a sudden wave of fatigue and cold. My fingers were numb. Last week, the weather was so nice that I didn't even sweat while riding my bike, but today I had to wear gloves. Also, my phone battery died with about 40% charge remaining, which made me think I need to get a new smartphone soon. It seems like I spend as much as I earn, so there's no childish excitement... The calls keep coming. I should go home.
