쫄

그야말로 쫄았다.

이제는 일하기가 싫고, 손님들이 다 범죄자 같으며 내게 사기를 칠 것만 같다.

운전하는 것도 힘들고 주차하는 것도 싫다.

예전에는 대단지 아파트가 가장 기피하는 목적지였는데, 이제는 중소규모 상가 주차장마저 싫어졌다. '강동 하이브' 같은 주상복합 주차장을 만나면, 차라리 대리비를 포기하고 입구에서 내려야 하나 고민이 들 정도다.

둔촌 '올림픽파크포레온' 122동이라는 번듯한 곳에 사는 '쪼다' 같은 녀석을 만났다.

처음부터 단호하게 대처하지 못한 탓에 결국 당하고 말았다. 그는 후배와 함께 있었는데, 아마 승진이라도 한 모양이었다.

후배 앞에서는 온갖 좋은 말을 늘어놓으며 거드름을 피웠지만, 대리기사인 나에게는 비굴하고 무례했다.

가는 방향이라며 거짓말을 하며 경유를 요구하기에, 나도 어렵게 경유비 5천 원만 더 달라고 했지만 그는 현금이 없다며 잡아뗐다.

한판 붙으려다 참았다. 혹시라도 블랙리스트에 오르게 되면 이 일마저 못 하게 될까 봐 두려웠기 때문이다.

대신 업체에 전화했더니, 다행히 3천 원을 더 정산해 주었다.

물론 주행 중에 고맙다는 말을 연발하며, 내가 먼저 요청하지 않아도 경유비와 팁을 챙겨주시는 분들도 분명히 있다.

하지만 이런 '쪼다'들도 있다.

그래서 대리기사와 손님은 서로를 경계하게 된다.

낯선 이와 가장 개인적인 공간을 공유해야 하는 그 순간들.

나는 이 어색함과 불편함이 싫어서라도 대리를 부르지 않는다.

아예 술을 마시지 않거나, 차를 가져가지 않거나, 혹은 차를 두고 온다.


특히 그 '쪼다'들에게 말하고 싶다. 주제넘게 일행까지 챙겨가며 생색내고 싶다면, 제발 대리 서비스 이용하지 마라.



Shaken.
I’m straight-up shaken. I’ve lost all will to work. Every passenger looks like a criminal to me, like they’re out to scam me. I’m tired of driving, and I’m sick of parking. I used to hate large apartment complexes the most, but now even small commercial parking lots stress me out. When I encounter a nightmare parking lot like "Gangdong Hive," I seriously wonder if I should just forfeit the fee and drop the car off at the entrance.



I ran into this small-minded jerk living in a fancy place—Building 122 of "Olympic Park Foreon" in Dunchon. I ended up getting screwed because I wasn't firm with him from the start. He was with a junior colleague, and it seemed like he had just been promoted. He was spouting all kinds of "noble" advice to his junior, but to me, the driver, he was both pathetic and rude.



He lied, claiming the detour was "on the way." When I hesitantly asked for a mere 5,000 won extra for the stop, he flatly refused, claiming he had no cash. I wanted to have it out with him right then and there, but I bit my tongue. I was afraid that if I ended up on some "blacklist," I wouldn't even be able to do this job anymore. Instead, I called the agency. Thankfully, they were understanding and settled an extra 3,000 won for me.



To be fair, there are people who repeatedly say "thank you" while I'm driving and hand over detour fees and tips before I even ask. They definitely exist. But then there are jerks like this guy. This is why drivers and passengers are always on guard with each other—sharing the most private of spaces with a total stranger. I hate that discomfort so much that I never call for a designated driver myself. I either don't drink, don't take my car, or just leave it behind.
And to those "small-minded jerks": If you want to show off and act big in front of your friends, at least don't bring that pathetic stinginess into the car with you.

쪼다의 기아 신형 케이5는 운전하기 매우 편했다. 익숙했고 잘 나갔고 편안했다. 팀장급에게 회사에서 내어주는 차 같았다.
