35만킬로 주행을 자랑하는 현대차의 그랜저 차주를 만났고
연비와 편의에 여전히 만족한다는 기아의 니로 1세대 차주와 마천동으로 향했다.
마천에서 방이역까지 가는길에 콜을 쟙을 생각으로 따릉이를 잡고 저속 주행했는데 정말 잡히긴 했다. 잠실 교통회관.
첫콜은 약속의 땅 강남이어야 한다는 생각에 버티고 버티다 잡은것이 일원동 콜이었다. 3호선을 이용할 수 있고 삼성병원 근처라 장례식장 후속콜을 기대할 수 있다는 기대감이 있었지만 확실히 요즘 조문문화가 많이 변한 것 같다. 일원가람아파트를 소개받은 것도 좋았다. 공기좋고 지하철역 가까운 좋은 입지의 아파트 같다.
테슬라 콤팩트 suv급 모델인데 기어변속을 화면터치로 하는게 낯설었다. 비상등이 실내등 스위치에 있다는것은 알았지만 여전히 적응하기 어려웠고 시동을 끄지 않고 내린다는 것도 어색했다. 승차감은 확실히 현대차의 아이오닉을 못 따라온다. 시내주행을 하는데 제동을 거의 안해도 될만큼 뻣뻣했고 부드럽지 않았다. 반면 현대차 기아의 신형 전기차들은 거의 내연기관차 만큼 주행감을 잡은 느낌이다. 연비에는 어떤 영향을 줄지 모르겠지만 테슬라는 확실히 별도 적응이 필요한 메이커다.
35만 주행에 빛나는 현대차 그랜저도 인상적이었다. 전체적인 안정감은 여전히 빛났지만 자꾸만 오른쪽으로 가려는 조향에도 문제가 느껴졌고 액셀을 밟으면 경주용차량처럼 튕겨나갔고 고속주행으로 이어지는 변속 구간에서는 기어가 빠지는것 아닌가 하는 공포가 약간 있었다. 머플러는 터진건지 터뜨린건지 모를 굉음이 실내까지 잘 전달됐다. 35만킬로.. 도 차가 굴러가는 그런 기술력을 보유한 현대차와 현대차 보유국 대한민국에서 또 하루를 마쳤다. 두번째 마감. 첫번째 마감은 17시 30분에 두번째 마감은 다음날 00시 10분 경 였고. 비가 내렸고 요즘 비 금방 그칠 것이라는 믿음으로 기다리며 영상찍고 올리고 하다보니 정말 그쳤고 어제도 그래서 무사히 귀가했다. 경기도가 마지막 근무지라 집까지는 걸어서 갔다. 간만에 걸어서 하늘까지를 들어야겠다. 걸어서 세계속으로. 해야 하는데...
I met the owner of a Hyundai Grandeur who was proud of its 350,000 kilometers on the odometer, and then headed towards Macheon-dong with the owner of a first-generation Kia Niro, who was still satisfied with its fuel economy and convenience.
Hoping to get a ride request on the way from Macheon to Bangi Station, I grabbed a Ttareungi (Seoul's public bike-sharing system) and rode slowly. And I actually got one: a ride to the Jamsil Transportation Hall.
I held out for a while, believing my first fare of the day should be from the 'promised land' of Gangnam, but the one I finally took was to Irwon-dong. I figured it was a good choice because I could use subway Line 3, and its proximity to the Samsung Medical Center made me hopeful for follow-up fares from the funeral hall. However, it seems the culture of condolence visits has changed quite a bit. It was also nice to be introduced to the Irwon Garam Apartment complex. It seemed like a well-located residence with fresh air and a nearby subway station.
I drove a Tesla compact SUV model, and it felt strange to change gears by touching the screen. I knew the emergency light button was located with the interior light switches, but it was still hard to get used to. The fact that you get out without turning off the car also felt awkward. The ride quality definitely doesn't compare to Hyundai's Ioniq. It was so stiff during city driving that I barely had to use the brakes, and it wasn't smooth. In contrast, the new electric vehicles from Hyundai and Kia feel like they've nearly perfected the driving experience to be like that of an internal combustion engine car. I'm not sure how this affects efficiency, but Tesla is certainly a brand that requires a separate adjustment period.
The Hyundai Grandeur, shining with its 350,000 km, was also impressive. Its overall stability was still brilliant, but I could feel a problem with the steering, which kept pulling to the right. When I stepped on the accelerator, it lurched forward like a race car, and during gear shifts at high speeds, I had a slight fear that the transmission might be failing. A roaring sound from the muffler—I couldn't tell if it was busted or intentionally modified—permeated the cabin. And so, I finished another day in the Republic of Korea, the home of Hyundai and its technology that allows a car to keep running even at 350,000 kilometers. My second shift ended. The first shift finished at 5:30 PM, and the second one around 12:10 AM the next day. It rained, but I waited with the belief that the rain would stop soon, filming and uploading videos in the meantime, and it really did. That's how I got home safely yesterday as well. Since my last drop-off was in Gyeonggi Province, I walked home. I thought I should listen to the song "Walking to the Sky" for the first time in a while. I should be "Walking into the World"...
